Dear Cllr. Williams
Takeley Parish Council are very concerned and frustrated with the amounts of high speed traffic and associated accidents in the Takeley area. Frustrated because it appears to be very difficult to do something practical about the problem and improve the health and safety of local residents and retain the rural nature of the environment of our country roads and lanes.
Takeley Parish Council are concerned that the outlined draft proposals will not help in seeking a solution to the dangers of high speed traffic on our rural lanes. These are continually heavily used as ‘rat runs’ by commuter traffic to Stansted Airport & the M11, and do not consider that the eventual opening of the new A120 will significantly change the situation, especially through Broxted & Mole Hill Green.
Takeley Parish Council have discussed this issue many times over the years and have identified areas that, in their opinion, warrant speed limits.
Speed Limit Areas Requested:
A120 through Takeley Street and Takeley – 30mph limit
Roseacres, Takeley – 20mph limit in the vicinity of Takeley Primary School
B183 – Station Road, Takeley – extension of the existing 40mph limit past the Sports Field
Warish Hall Road – 40mph limit
Bambers Green Road – 40mph limit
Parsonage /Waltham Hall/Elsenham Road – 40mph limit.
Coopers End to Waltham Hall – 30mph limit in vicinity of Montessori Nursery School
Takeley Parish Council would appreciate your advice on the matter.
Yours sincerely,
David Fossett
